Former 'Alf' child star Benji Gregory was found dead inside his car, along with his also deceased service dog, in the parking lot of at a Chase Bank in at the age of 46 years old. The star's sister Rebecca confirmed the tragic news of Benji and his pug Hugs passing on June 13, according to reports by . The official cause of Benji's death is still currently being pended by the Maricopa County Medical Examiner's Office but his family members believe he could've suffered a fatal heat stroke.
Benji's loved ones told the news outlet that they believe the actor went to the bank to deposit residual checks with his dog and accidentally fell asleep while sitting inside his car. And due to the boiling Arizona summer heat, that can often reach over 100 degrees, he suffered from a fatal heat stroke. Rebecca explained that her brother's passing comes as he had a history of struggling with and was previously diagnosed with depression and bipolar disorder.
She explained that he also battled with a severe sleeping disorder that would sometimes keep him awake for days on end and leaving him to fall asleep at unexpected times. During his heartbreaking time Rebecca has expressed that she is thankful for everyone's kinds words as she grieves the loss of her sibling. In honor of her brother she has also asked fans to donate to causes that Benji was passionate about including The Actors Equity Foundation or the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
