A body has been discovered in the search for BBC doctor Michael Mosley, who went missing while on holiday on the Greek island of Symi on Wednesday. A search operation was launched after Dr Mosley went missing after going for a coastal walk on a Greek holiday island, located off the coast of Rhodes. According to reports, an umbrella has been found near a cave complex known as ‘The Abyss’ to locals in the region.

While formal identification is yet to take place, Greek police officials believe the remains belong to Mr Mosley . It was initially feared that the 67-year-old may have ‘fallen from a height’ while he was hiking along St Nicholas Beach on Symi at 1.30pm on Wednesday, June 5.



Failing to return to where they were staying by 7.30pm, his wife Dr Clare Bailey alerted local authorities, who had been unable to locate him in recent days. Drones and search equipment were being used on throughout the search, conducted by a search and rescue team being established by Athens police.

With temperatures in Symi lying at around 37C, police feared Dr Mosley attempted to walk through the mountains in a longer route to where he was staying. Dr Mosley’s wife Dr Bailey said in a statement on Saturday that their family ‘would not lose hope’ in their search for him. The couple’s four children arrived on the island on Friday.
