A+E Networks EMEA have commissioned a ninth season of Crimes That Shook Britain. It will be aired on the Crime+Investigation channel in September. The true crime series investigates offences that rocked the nation while maintaining sensitivity for people who have lost their lives.

Presenter Dermot Murnaghan interviews the friends and family of the victims to get a full picture of what happened and how the crime affected the local community in the aftermath. Detectives also explain their investigation and how they went about bringing the perpetrators to justice. This new series is set to shed light on recent horrific cases in the UK.

One episode will explore the murder of transgender teen Brianna Ghey , who was lured to a park and stabbed to death in February 2023. She sustained a "violent attack" before dying of her wounds - one of which reached a depth of 11cm and sliced through her heart. Her teenage killers were both given life sentences for murder .

Another episode will see Dermot look into the death of Shakira Spencer , who was tortured and starved by neighbours who kept her "like a slave". The West London mum of two was eventually found decomposing in her flat after her tormenters battered her to death. Season nine will also feature the tragic stories of beautician Elle Edwards who was shot by accident in a gang war in Merseyside, young barmaid Iuliana Tudos who was murdered in Finsbury Park on Christmas Eve, ten-year-old Jack Lis who was mauled to death by an XL Bully,.
