Layton Williams praised on Saturday Kitchen as show marks Pride Strictly Come Dancing sensation Layton Williams was visibly close to tears as a Saturday Kitchen guest revealed how his performances had helped him come to terms with his sexuality. Dressed in a gold sequin jacket to celebrate his sexuality during a special Pride Week episode, Paul revealed he'd been "holding his breath" while watching Layton on stage. "You've just showed how we can all express ourselves and feel comfortable," he exclaimed, adding that the principle applied whether someone was gay, bisexual or non-binary.

Layton exclaimed: "Why can't I throw on a cheeky wig and look like a vampire? Why can't I put on an afro and just have fun?" Agreeing with Paul, he added: "I grew up having to hide." The actor was holding back tears as he looked appreciatively at the man giving him the glowing praise. Paul had explained that in the 1990s, when Britain was less accepting of alternative sexualities, he'd had to tone down and disguise his "gayness" and often felt self-conscious.



However, he exclaimed happily: "When I saw you, I was like, 'Oh no, we're not doing that anymore!'" Layton grinned, while BBC host Matt Tebbutt chimed into the conversation to ask whether it was important for him to have had a male partner on Strictly, who would reflect his sexuality. He had no hesitation as he responded: "That was the absolute - I knew I wanted a guy because quite frankly, I wanted to be thrown around and to wear fabulous .
