Chris McCausland is rumoured to be BBC Strictly's first ever blind contestant (Image: BBC) BBC actor and comedian Chris McCausland, who lost his sight aged 22 due to a hereditary condition, is said to be appearing on Strictly Come Dancing this year. Some experts suggest that losing one of the senses can heighten the others, meaning that Chris is likely to stage some powerful performances. Viewers were in tears back in 2021 watching graceful Rose Ayling-Ellis as she raised awareness for her disability and danced her way to the Glitterball trophy with pro partner Giovanni Pernice .
Although Giovanni reportedly quit the show this year , plenty of other performers are tipped for 2024 - and CBeebies actor Chris is expected to be a huge hit. He had previously revealed how losing his sight, which started to deteriorate in his university days, had been a "painful", "scary" and "embarrassing" experience. It derailed his plans to finish his degree and meant that he could no longer be a spy for MI5, despite beating 3,000 applicants to a place in the final 30.
However, if the rumours are anything to go by, it hasn't dented his chances for Strictly Come Dancing . Express.co.
