BBC News star Sophie Raworth has been battling a painful injury behind the scenes. The veteran newsreader had to pull out of running the London Marathon in April at 20 miles after 'blowing out' her ankle - and she's now revealed the damage is much worse than she first thought. Sophie , 56, previously fractured her ankle, but she took to social media to give her fans an update on her healing progress.

On-screen, she carried on with her presenting duties as normal, even fronting extended coverage of the General Election results. But behind-the-scenes, it has been a different story as she has struggled with the aftermath of the huge running race . The presenter uploaded a compilation video to her profile on X - formerly known as Twitter .

In the clip, her left foot was strapped into a walking boot brace as she used a mobility scooter to get around. She seemed to make the best of her situation as she rode around the swanky studio at BBC 's New Broadcasting House HQ. Aside from the glamorous shots at work, she was also spotted using crutches as she practised walking.

Her injury also forced her to continue to wear protective equipment in the gym, as she still managed to fit in her obligatory workouts. Sophie captioned the video: "That marathon injury turned out to be a little worse than I thought. "Been on crutches and in a boot since start of June! But discovered knee scooters," she wrote with a sarcastic crying emoji.

The star added: "Finally on the mend. Rehab starts now," along.
