Charlie Stayt's company is said to be over £6,000 in the red (Image: BBC) BBC Breakfast star Charlie Stayt and his wife's broadcasting firm Stayt Limited has been served a petition from HMRC . According to The Sun, the pair's firm was £6,409 in the red in accounts filed in December and covering to the end of March 2023. On Monday, the pair were reportedly served individual petitions requesting the money be paid back.
Charlie and Anne have both been listed as directors for Stayt Limited, a television programming and broadcasting company. HMRC are not able to comment on individual cases, but told Express.co.
uk: "We take a supportive approach to dealing with customers who have tax debts and do everything we can to help those who engage with us to get out of debt, such as offering instalment plans. We only petition for bankruptcy as a last resort.” A representative for Charlie has also been approached, but is yet to respond.
The BBC has additionally declined to comment. According to Caseboard, the presenter is listed as the debtor facing a bankrupcty petition. It's not known if he has appealed or discharged the case.
Charlie joined BBC Breakfast back in 2006 and regularly fronts the show alongside Naga Munchetty and other co-stars.
