The Auburn Rotary Club has selected five local students to receive its 2024 scholarships: The Joseph A. Daloia Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Chloe Heath and Hailey Maloney, of Auburn High School. Chloe will study nursing at Niagara University and Hailey will study English literature while pursuing a career as a literary editor.

The scholarship focuses on students with academic and community service excellence who are pursuing degrees in arts and sciences. It was established in 2011 in memory of Daloia, a World War II veteran and past president of the Auburn Rotary Club who retired as superintendent of water and wastewater plant operations for the city of Auburn. Henderson Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Shelby Boles and Cara Vasile, of Auburn High School. Shelby will study criminology and criminal justice at St. John Fisher College in hopes of becoming a crime scene analyst and victims advocate.

Cara will study criminal justice at SUNY Brockport before seeking a career as a law enforcement officer or 911 operator. The scholarship also focuses on students with academic and community service excellence, but are pursuing degrees in law enforcement or criminal justice. It was established in 2011 in memory of Henderson, a past president of the club with a 36-year career in corrections, 19 as superintendent of Auburn Correctional Facility.

The Health Profession Scholarship was awarded to Jason Lawrence, of Auburn High School, who will study biology at St. Jo.
