BRATTLEBORO — A "Wildlife Woodscraps" fundraiser for the HatchSpace scholarship fund begins Friday with an opening reception at the Harmony Collective Artist Gallery and ends at 4 p.m. at the July 20 sidewalk sale event.

Artist Jeannie Sutherland is donating 50% of her sales from her fine art laser engravings on wood, laser engraved lightbox dioramas, paintings and prints. She is celebrating the creative, collaborative communities of which she is a part as a member of the HatchSpace community woodworking shop and the Harmony Collective Artist Gallery. Sutherland explains: "I have been an artist all my life, focusing on wildlife and nature.

At 18, I was choosing between continuing with my art or pursuing wildlife conservation. I chose art, then art therapy. Later in life, I moved to an eco-village collaborative community and I loved it!" At this point, now retired, she finds joy and meaning from making art and being part of Brattleboro's creative, collaborative communities.

Meet the artist for an opening reception on Friday afternoon from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Harmony Collective, 49 Elliot St.

, Brattleboro, where her art is on continuous display. To close the fundraiser, the artist will then be part of the Downtown Brattleboro's Bargain Day sidewalk sale, July 20, at the same location from 10 a.m.
