: Andhra Pradesh police department has initiated measures to ensure that the process of counting votes on June 4 is smooth. Towards this, AP director general of police (DGP) Harish Kumar Gupta has appointed 56 special officers to supervise counting in all districts of the state. Large-scale violence had erupted on the polling day and thereafter in various districts of AP, particularly the Palnadu region.
The AP police department is thus taking measures to ensure law and order around the counting centres. The highest number of eight special officers have been appointed to supervise vote counting in Palnadu district, which had been the worst hit during the poll and post-poll violence.
