Two sources familiar with the matter told NBC News that Shiloh Jolie-Pitt filed a petition on her 18th birthday, which was May 27, to drop “Pitt” from her surname. The teenager wants to legally go by Shiloh Jolie, NBC News has not reviewed the legal documents.
NBC News reached out to representatives for Pitt and Jolie for comment but did not hear back by the time of publication. In 2023, the former couple’s daughter Zahara also publicly dropped “Pitt” from her name when she , . The , , has proved a contentious court battle since their 2016 split.
Though the divorce has not yet been finalized, Pitt and Jolie were granted a “bifurcated judgement” in 2019, stating that they’re both legally single. Jolie filed for divorce in 2016 after accusing Pitt of that same year. Pitt was subsequently investigated by the Los Angeles County Department of Child and Family Services and cleared of any physical abuse allegations, .
