Angela Rippon has spoken out about the BBC's scheduling choices (Image: GETTY) Angela Rippon has warned that, with the current cost of living crisis raging on, a show like the one she hosts, Rip Off Britain, is more important than ever. However, she claims that's not been reflected in the viewing schedule. According to Angela, when her programme stands in for the likes of The One Show in its 7pm slot, three times more listeners tune in.

Yet, the frustrated TV host believes that Rip Off Britain is destined to remain a daytime show, as that's how it first began. Talking in the new issue of the Radio Times , she revealed that she's been flagged down on the road by drivers, including one who leapt out of his car to give her a bear hug and reveal how much money he's saved thanks to the show. Sharing that his response is not an "uncommon" one, she quizzed: "How come such a valuable programme doesn’t command the spotlight and the bigger audience of a primetime slot? "Why is consumer journalism absent from BBC prime time television, with Watchdog reduced to a single item once a week on The One Show, and consumer spots on Morning Live? Well, that’s the question we are constantly asked by loyal viewers.
