Every year millions of pilgrims undertake this pilgrimage to achieve salvation. The much-awaited Amarnath Yatra has commenced today (29 June), drawing thousands of devotees eager to undertake the sacred pilgrimage to the holy Amarnath cave in the Himalayas. As per the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) framed by the Supreme Court of India, only 15000 registered Shri Amarnath Yatra pilgrims are allowed beyond Pehlgam and Baltal in a day which includes 7500 each from Baltal track and Pahalgam track.



For the convenience of the pilgrims, for their journey to the pilgrimage to Shri Amarnath Cave Shrine, Shri Amarnath Shrine Board also considers to open ‘On-Spot Registration Centres’ if the Yatra Registration for the day is below the prescribed limit of 15,000 registrations.
