Tropical Depression Aghon maintained its strength while over the coastal waters of Catbalogan City, Samar early Saturday, and 18 areas were placed under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 1, PAGASA reported. As of 5 a.

m., the center of Aghon was estimated to be over the coastal waters of Catbalogan City, Samar packing maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 90 km/h, and central pressure of 1004 hPa. Aghon is moving northwestward at 30 km/h with strong winds extending outwards up to 140 km from the center.
Hazards affecting land areas Forecast accumulated rainfall on Saturday is 100-200 mm over Albay, Sorsogon, Camarines Sur, Northern Samar, Samar, Eastern Samar, Biliran, and Leyte. Rainfall amounting to 50-100 mm is expected over Romblon, the southern portion of Quezon, the rest of Bicol Region, and the northern portions of Western Visayas and Cebu on Saturday. The weather bureau explained that forecast rainfall is generally higher in elevated or mountainous areas.
"Under these conditions, flooding and rain-induced landslides are possible especially in areas that are highly or very highly susceptible to these hazards as identified in hazard maps and in localities that experienced considerable amounts of rainfall for the past several days," PAGASA said.
