Malayalam actor Fahadh Faasil, known for his roles in acclaimed movies, has revealed that he has been clinically diagnosed with Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Speaking at Peace Valley Children's Village in Kerala's Kothamangalam on Sunday, the 41-year-old actor said that he recently conversed with a doctor about the disorder which is normally diagnosed in children. "He (the doctor) told me it can be easily cured if it is diagnosed at a young age.
I asked whether it can be cured if it is diagnosed at the age of 41. I am clinically ADHD diagnosed," the Puspha actor said. Despite the disorder, which he might have been struggling with for several years, Faasil has made a name for himself through several popular films - the latest being Aavesham.
Released on April 11, the movie has won him immense praise. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), ADHD is one of the most common neurodevelopmental disorders in children. It is a condition that arises when the growth and development of the brain is affected.
ADHD is most commonly diagnosed during childhood although it can continue into adulthood as well. Several factors are believed to be the cause of this disorder and they include brain injury, exposure to environmental risk like lead during pregnancy, alcohol and tobacco use by pregnant mothers, premature delivery and also genetics.
