Together, the actors formed the pop duo Robson & Jerome, after their characters Dave Tucker and Paddy Garvey on the ITV drama Soldier Soldier sang a cover of Unchained Melody. They performed the single during a plot where the entertainment failed to appear at a wedding, which led to viewers trying to buy the music.
Simon Cowell discovered the interest and convinced them to record the song. Months later, their cover was released as a double single with White Cliffs of Dover. It reached number one in the charts, stayed there for seven weeks, and became the best-selling single of 1995.
They went on to release covers of I Believe, and What Becomes of the Brokenhearted, which also hit number one. In total, they sold seven million copies of their two albums, and five million copies of the three singles released but decided to call it a day in 1997. With the 30th anniversary of Unchained Melody coming up, fans are naturally curious if they could reunite.
Ranvir Singh asked Robson, 59, directly if it was a possibility when he sat down on the Lorraine show sofa. ‘Money talks,’ he simply replied before laughing. The host also enquired if Robson and Game of Thrones actor Jerome, 61, ever hum the song at each other during phone conversations.
