A full list of 272 stores in danger as a major British retailer teeters on the brink of administration have been revealed. Carpetright has filed a notice to appoint administrators, putting more than 1,800 jobs at risk - as well as over 200 stores in the UK. Earlier this week, the high street floorings specialist drafted advisers at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) to launch a formal sale process.

Sources told The Times the sale was likely to be completed through a pre-pack deal or company voluntary arrangement. PricewaterhouseCoopers has been lined up as possible administrators but not yet been appointed. High court records show that Carpetright, advised by the law firm Travers Smith, filed the notice on Friday.
