It is over a year since the final episode of ITV's Inspector Morse prequel Endeavour was screened with the episode on March 12, 2023, watched by millions of viewers. This brought an end to the franchise which started with the Oxford-based Inspector Morse series in the 1980s, based on the novels of Colin Dexter. Missed a copy of the Oxford Mail you wanted? Here's what to do The stars of the show have kept busy since it finished last year with Morse himself Shaun Evans set to star in a new ITV crime drama called Until I Kill You.

A release date has yet to be confirmed for the series but ITV told the last week that it would likely be after this summer. Mr Evans’ Endeavour co-star Roger Allam who played Morse’s boss Fred Thursday is also now starring in a new project. The Choral will star Mr Allam alongside BAFTA winner Ralph Fiennes, Academy Award and BAFTA winner Jim Broadbent, and BAFTA winner Simon Russell Beale.



Directed by Nicholas Hytner, the BBC film takes place in 1916’s Yorkshire, after most of the men of the ambitious local Choral Society have volunteered for the front. The Choral recruits a crop of teenage boys and girls in the story written by BAFTA- and Tony-winning playwright and screenwriter Alan Bennett. Filming officially commenced this week on the movie which will be released in cinemas through Sony Pictures Classics.
