A much-loved Midleton restaurant will be closing next month as the team reveal they're starting an exciting new chapter for their brand. Sage Restaurant founder Kevin Aherne has confirmed the venue will be shutting down on Saturday 28 July after over 16 years of serving the people of Midleton - but the Sage Products line is set to continue. The Cork man first opened the eatery back in 2008 and managed the business alongside his wife Réidín.

Over the years, the space slowly became a go-to spot for birthdays and family events such as communions and confirmations. During the 2020 lockdown, the Sage Restaurant team turned to selling food products - ranging from 'heat at home' meals to dips and sauces - which expanded later expanded a full-blown production line that's landed them deals with a number of Irish supermarkets, such as Supervalu and Tesco. Kevin has confirmed that his team will continue to sell their Sage Products after the restaurant closes, and that they're are already eyeing up 'big developments' for the brand in the future.

The Cork man announced the news on social media today, thanking customers and staff for their loyal support over the years and promising a 'big send-off' on their last day of service. He said: "You may have heard a few whistles in the wind, and most of them are probably true. Réidín and I have come to the decision that we’re moving on from our chapter in Sage Restaurant in Midleton.

We're closing up shop next month at the end of July. I.
