The two-metre beast was seen in the Florence Falls waterhole of Litchfield National Park on Sunday, with NT Parks and Wildlife raising the alarm the following day - which, ironically, was also World Croc Day. The freshie was identified and confirmed by spotlight overnight, sparking a rush from park rangers to try to remove it.

NT Parks and Wildlife have placed warning signs in the area and the pools will reopen 'as soon as it's practical'. Aussies are encouraged to be 'croc wise' before entering any swimming area in the Top End.
