Nestle is one of the most well-known chocolate brands out there - but there are a lot of things you don't know about it. While you may think the company invented some of our most-loved confectionary creations, it turns out it's not quite the case. A man, known as Elijah Explores Business, revealed a very big secret on TikTok , leaving people mind-blown.
In the short clip, he noted Rowntree's is an "iconic" British brand that's not talked about enough. He claims it should be thought about a lot more, as it's actually responsible for making many of the delicious sweet treats us Brits munch on. Even though we think Nestle created the recipe for many of our much-loved choccies - including the KitKat, Aero, Fruit Pastilles and Smarties - it's not quite the case.
As well as this, Quality Street and Rolos weren't designed by the minds at Nestle either. Elijah said: "My rule of thumb is, if you're eating it, it's probably made by Rowntree's. You're probably thinking 'how can you see Nestle, not Rowntree's on the packaging of the products?' "It simply comes down to the fact that Nestle in 1988 purchased Rowntree's.
I personally think it was a steal considering how many products Rowntree's has actually made." The Swiss company snapped up the brand in the late 80s, but decided to keep Rowntree’s as the name of their UK fruit confectionery range. That's why you sometimes see the name crop up on the packaging.
Since Elijah shared the news online, people can't believe how many sweets Row.
