The Odisha government on Friday announced to extend the sponsorship agreement of both men’s and women’s national teams of Indian Hockey for three more years. It implies the state will continue to remain the team sponsor for Hockey India till 2036. The big decision was taken in view of Odisha’s 100 years of statehood.

Odisha will observe its 100th statehood day on April 1 2036 Hockey India (HI) secretary General Bhola Nath Singh informed that Odisha will be the sponsor of both Indian hockey men’s and women’s teams till 2036 instead of 2033. This significant partnership was solidified in a high-level meeting attended by Chief Minister of Odisha Mohan Charan Majhi, Minister of State for Sports and Youth Services Suryabanshi Suraj, Chief Secretary and Chief Development Commissioner Pradeep Kumar Jena, Commissioner-Cum-Secretary R Vineel Krishna, Hockey India president Dilip Tirkey, and Secretary General Bhola Nath Singh. Speaking about the meeting and their partnership with the Odisha government, Tirkey said, “We had a productive meeting with Odisha chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi and minister of state for sports and youth services Suryabanshi Suraj.



We discussed the advancement of sports and strategies to elevate our beloved sport to new heights.” “We are deeply thankful to the Government of Odisha for their steadfast support and commitment to Indian hockey. This partnership has played a pivotal role in uplifting the sport across our nation,” he added.
