Historic Windmill on Wicken Fen Nature Reserve (Image: Niamh Dann/Cambs Live) A summer trail at one of the most popular nature reserves in the UK has now re-opened. National Trust's Wicken Fen Nature Reserve has a stunning walk that passes some of the most extraordinary landscape in the country. On the Wicken Fen Summer Nature Trail, visitors can look out for a wide array of wildlife on this easy walk.

According to the National Trust , the trail passes through a unique wetlands habitat that is home to more than 9,000 species, including hen harriers, muntjac deer and Konik ponies. You'll also be able to see the famous wooden wind pump which is the last working wooden wind pump in the fens. It is a well-signed route that lasts roughly an hour and 15 minutes, but be aware that some sections may be closed in wet weather to protect the fauna. You can check at the Visitor Centre before setting off.

It's also worth bearing in mind that dogs are not allowed on any of the Sedge Fen routes at the reserve because the area is home to several vulnerable, prot.
