Two Charleston-based drink companies are kicking off the holiday weekend with new flavored beverages. Zest , headquartered on King Street in downtown Charleston, has released its Lime Drop vodka while Tipsy Spritzers , out of Mount Pleasant, dropped its orange aperitif. Katie Shields , owner of Tipsy , said the canned cocktail is a new twist on the original citrus flavor.

“We went above and beyond on improving the taste; balancing sun-kissed orange with grapefruit, orange and rhubarb bitters,” she said. The flavor is one of four spritzers. The others are grapefruit, blackberry and limonita .



Shield said her low-alcohol canned wines are fully organic and preservative-free, made with monk fruit to reduce calories without adding in artificial sweeteners. The new flavor will trickle into Harris Teeter , Whole Foods , Bottles , Total Wine and EarthFare stores in the next coming weeks. Local brand Zest's Lime Drop is already hitting shelves in similar stores.

Launched in 2021 by Jake MacDowell and Justin Buchanan , the business was founded on their signature low-alcohol drink based on the shot of the same name: the lemon drop. The lime version is the brand's second product. Zest, based out of Charleston, manufactures its low-alcohol Lemon Drop vodka drink in the upstate and has just released its follow-up, the Lime Drop.
