Beloved eatery Harold’s Cabin closed the day Heather Greene and her husband finalized the purchase of their house across the street. She turned to him and expressed her desire to do something with the suddenly vacant space in the West Side neighborhood of downtown Charleston. was led by John Schumacher, Mike Veeck, Drew Childers and actor Bill Murray . Their neighborhood restaurant was named after Harold Jacobs, who in the 1930s turned his family specialty store into a destination selling gourmet goods like Savoure Cheese, an odd but wildly popular combination of cream cheese, relish and seasoned salt. Heather Greene The newest restaurant to take over the space, led by Greene, will be named after the woman who helped Jacobs expand his grocery to a larger store on Wentworth Street and become a household name in Charleston: His wife Lillian.
Greene spent the last few months extensively researching Harold and Lillian Breen Jacobs. Reading newspaper stories and listening to oral histories, she found the couple’s relationship inspiring. “It just seemed like a natural fit,” Greene said of the new eatery's name.
Story continues below Lillian’s is targeting a December 2024 opening, said Greene, who owns a restaurant consultant business named Whole Hospitality Group. She has helped individuals open dozens of restaurants and currently leads operations at Stars Rooftop & Grill Room. She is also an investo.
