A family-run takeaway boasting sandwiches packed full of fillings opens this month. Sister duo Phoebe and Masie White are bringing something new to the sandwich scene with the opening of Maurie’s. The “tiny” takeaway and sandwich and coffee shop in Southampton is a new venture for the siblings, done in honour of their late grandfather Maurice.

“It is a tribute to his lifelong pursuit of the best sandwich around”, the pair said. The shop – which replaces the Sandwich Box in The Avenue – will sell fresh-out-of-the-oven focaccia bread filled with ingredients including cheese, delicatessen meats and roasted vegetables.
