Southampton has been featured on a popular Channel 4 property show this week. Location, Location, Location aired on Channel 4 on Wednesday night and put the spotlight on the city. Property moguls Phil Spencer and Kirstie Allsopp scoured Bitterne and Regents Park in search of the perfect future-proofed home for couple Antoinette and Matt.

The pair were keen to move somewhere within walking distance of shops and amenities, and with great travel connections. They were also seeking a home with three to four-bedrooms, with a maximum budget of £450,000. Kirstie and Phil were first seen enjoying a stroll in the Ocean Village marina, opening the episode with impressive scenery (of which the Daily Echo office can be seen in the background).

Kirstie then meets Antoinette and Matt outside the first prospective property in Athelstan Road. The 1930s semi-detached house was recently refurbished at the time of filming, and boasted three bedrooms and one bathroom. Kirstie: “It has been cleverly extended to make a spacious kitchen/diner that’s just perfect for parties.

“Bursting with wow factor yet comfortably in budget with offers over £390,000. “It is £35,000 under their £450,000 maximum, but not a penny more needing to be spent.” READ MORE: Grade II-listed home with own swimming pool on sale for more than £3 million Despite strong first impressions – with Matt a fan of the view of the River Itchen from the house– it did not tick the right boxes.

Not deterred, Kirstie tak.
