An acclaimed Charleston pitmaster is bringing his famous smoked brisket beyond the Palmetto State. John Lewis, owner of his namesake barbecue emporium, will open a third restaurant this spring. It will be located in Atlanta at Ansley Mall , an open-air institution that dates to the 1960s .

John Lewis Lewis opened the Charleston original in 2016. He serves brisket, house-made beef sausage, smoked turkey and sides like his beloved green chile corn pudding at the 464 N. Nassau St.

Lewis is also the owner of Rancho Lewis in Charleston, and operates a second Lewis Barbecue location in Greenville.
