One of Charleston's top smoked meats restaurants reopened June 15 in time for Father's Day weekend. Lewis Barbecue abruptly closed on June 12 for unforeseen maintenance. pmilner@postandcourier.

to 5 p.m. Pitmaster John Lewis opened his namesake eatery in 2016.

He serves his signature brisket, house-made beef sausage, smoked turkey and sides at the 464 N. Nassau St. counter-serve barbecue emporium.

In 2023, Southern Living ranked the restaurant No. 8 on its list of best barbecue restaurants in the South. A spokesperson for restaurant previously told The Post and Courier the restaurant's staff were working out of its Greenville location to prepare catering orders already placed for the holiday weekend.
