If you fancy yourself a champion hot dog eater, you’ll want to pay a visit to the Hy-Vee gas station on Wednesday. The Fast and Fresh store will be selling hot dogs for $1 each as part of National Hot Dog Day. Tyler Hulme, manager of the Hy-Vee Fast and Fresh store, dons his hot dog costume and shows his trophy from last year’s Hy-Vee hot dog day.

The crew will be ready for action. “We’ll have at least 10 of us out there,” Hulme said. Two of those people will work the grill.

Another two will serve customers who walk up. Many of the others will work at a table that’s set up as an assembly line. There will be at three people inside the store “ringing people up,” Hulme said.
