GLENVILLE - Glenville’s Fat Boys Ice Cream and Family Fun Plex has permanently closed. The seasonal business opened last summer. “We decided we didn’t want to open this year,” Fat Boys' Dan Maggs said.
Maggs co-owns the business with his wife Pamela Maggs and Brian Olesen, according to a previous Gazette story. Situated on the site of the former Glenville Sportsplex on Freemans Bridge Road, it offered miniature golf and a variety of ice cream sundaes, milkshakes and flurries. Maggs, who also owns Freemans Bridge Wine & Liquor, said he’s gotten calls from real estate agents about Fat Boys.
He didn’t confirm whether they would be interested in selling, however, he noted that “Freemans Bridge is developing very fast.” There are plans in the works that call for the construction of a four-story, 125-room hotel at 34 Freemans Bridge Road, and in the coming months, construction on a Taco Bell across from Dutch Meadows Lane is expected to begin..
