DERRY — It’s a sign of the season when the annual Derry Homegrown Farm and Artisan Market kicks off. Opening day was held last week in downtown Derry. This is the seventh year for the market.

First-day crowds came out to the downtown market to find seasonal produce, food, drinks, music, breads, soaps, candies, jams and much more. Many vendors are returning favorites, and others were setting up shop for the first time. A lot of the farm options were grown and produced locally, while others traveled from other communities to show off their products and produce.

That included Cucina Aurora Kitchen Witchery owner, Dawn Hunt, who said she loved bringing products from her Salem business to the market and hoped to soon bring her business operation to Derry. “It’s so great,” Hunt said about the market. “It’s run so wonderfully.

” In addition to the seasonal produce and other products and foods, the market offered music and other fun activities for kids on opening day, along with local nonprofit community booths and other special events. The 2024 season also includes a “No Waste Wednesday” on June 19 as a monthly theme day. The market is held every Wednesday through September from 3 to 7 p.
