Hot enough for ya? It’s got to the point where I’m watering my yard every evening just so the soil stays hydrated overnight. This does seem to help my plants better than watering in the morning, when it’s already getting warm. So, what plants do I have that wilt so easily? A few different types of tomatoes, a volunteer spaghetti squash from seeds that were in my compost bin, a small fig tree, a lemon tree that gets a bit sunburned, hydrangeas that can droop at the drop of a pin.

Stuff like that. Oh yes ..



. and me. I wilt in the heat, as well.

So, I mix powdered electrolytes into a cold glass of water, and I lie on the floor in front of a fan until my limbs feel normal again. But then, we all have to eat. What to do, what to do? I love to cook, and I especially love to bake.

But in this heat? N-n-n-no. And you feel the same way. That’s why I researched a bunch of ideas.

Some are cold dishes. Some have to be cooked, but only for a short time. Some are done on the grill, so mostly hands off and no heat indoors.

Here’s the list. • Firm Fish with Cold Vermicelli and Sugar Snap Peas – Fish cooks quickly in a skillet, on the grill, or in the air fryer. Use a firm type like tuna or halibut, and cook until it flakes easily.

Cook vermicelli or thin spaghetti according to package directions. During the last two minutes, toss in some trimmed sugar snap peas to brighten the green color. Drain and rinse briefly with cold water.
