A Cork food truck is battling it out with some of the nation's top restaurants to see who serves Ireland's best bowl of soup. Trawler Boyz is a rolling restaurant that does a range of catering services and dishes out fresh seafood in the Blackbird pub in Ballycotton every weekend. They serve a range of top grub, from their fab fish and chips to their sizzling prawns, but it's their chowder that has people raving - and leading soup brand Cully & Sully has taken notice.
The East Cork team have now been selected for the national 'SOUPerb Awards', which has them competing with eateries from across Ireland to see who serves the country's tastiest broth. With nearly 400 nominees, the most voted-for locations will go through to the finals in September to be judged personally by the soup experts themselves, and their partners John and Sally McKenna. You can vote on the Cully and Sully website here , so feel free to throw your support behind Trawler Boyz or one of the 30 other Cork spots on the list - including Greene's, The Algiers and The Quays Bar.
The Ballycotton seafood crew is currently in third place - behind Westmeath's Poppyfields and the Carrygerry Country House in Clare - but votes are open until September, so it's still anyone's game.
