Prophet Premium Blends of Santa Ana, CA, is recalling Diamond Shruumz Infused Cones, Chocolate Bars, and Gummies (Micro- and Mega/Extreme-Dose), because the products contain Muscimol, a chemical found in mushrooms. The company had been refusing to take action, but after negotiations with the Food and Drug Administration, it finally recalled the products. Twenty-three people have been hospitalized because of adverse reactions to the products.
Muscimol could be a potential cause of symptoms consistent with those observed in people who became ill after eating Diamond Shruumz products. Reported symptoms have included those linked to seizures, agitation, involuntary muscle contractions, loss of consciousness, confusion, sleepiness, nausea and vomiting, abnormal heart rates, and hyper/hypotension, according to the recall notice posted by the Food and Drug Administration. Diamond Shruumz Infused Cones, Chocolate Bars, and Gummies (Micro- and Mega/Extreme-Dose) were distributed nationwide through retail stores and mail orders.
