The product is also sold in: Alchemist Pharmacy; Courtleigh Hotel; General Foods; Joong Supermarket, Portmore; RADA Agrimart; and online at Caribshopper.The story behind the packaging for the productsFor our flagship Spicy Coffee Gourmet Jelly, we used jars that are readily available locally. However, the current shape and size of the jar complements the Camgar logo. The width of the neck of the jar makes the product easily accessible and the portion is ideal for single-person use.The idea for a convenient way to portion a coffee serving ideal for the hot-fill cups used in most offices, etc, led to the development of the Coffee in a Teabag.We made these products becauseI had invested in five acres of coffee along with another person. I was shafted by my partner and I ended up losing all that I had invested. The choice came down to taking it as a loss and giving up, or trying something else. Coffee was what inspired me to get into business for myself. So, rather than give up completely, I decided to start a brand for myself. I realised that I did not have to have a farm to build a brand and I wanted to create a niche.Coffee is well-loved and can easily be incorporated into a variety of savoury and sweet foods. So, with this in mind the Camgar Coffee line is taking shape.Our first breakthrough camePerfecting the formula for the Spicy Coffee Gourmet Jelly was a breakthrough for me. I had developed the formula but there was a step in the process that was missing, which prevented the product from having the correct viscosity. Once that was perfected, I was able to attend shows like Denbeigh and other local pop-ups in order to showcase the product where I made early sales and was able to receive feedback.The products became available to the publicAugust last year when the Spicy Coffee Gourmet Jelly appeared on the shelf in Joong Supermarket.Our core customers areRetailers.The response to the products has beenPositive!My products are successful becauseThey are like a classic spin on everyday foods. Coffee is a niche market and at the same time, it is the third most-sold product in the world. Therefore, the overall love of coffee will always make way for coffee-infused products.I plan to grow the business to becomeA well-loved local and international brand that develops and contributes to local employment and the supply chain.My major challenge isFinancing and a production facility.Managing the raw material inventory isCurrently not an issue. The products are manufactured to meet orders.If I knew then what I know nowI would have invested in my brand rather than in the coffee farm only to lose everything with no recourse.Jamaicans should support my products becauseFor us, it is like ole-time sinting come back again...we are a coffee-producing nation with some of the best coffee in the world, but we have never really ventured beyond its conventional use. This brand is like an ode to coffee lovers while delighting their palates with something new and worth sharing. Moreover, all our raw materials are sourced locally, so the bottom line is that supporting Camgar Farm is supporting local farmers too.
