After 18 months of hard work, the staff at Brass and Bronze Foundry Bar , and its sister business Fresco Bistro , both in downtown Lorain, revealed their newest addition. ‘The Cellar “Labodega” underneath Brass and Bronze Foundry Bar, 639 Broadway in Lorain, will be available for wine and bourbon tastings by reservation. (Martin McConnell — The Morning Journal) A false wall disguised as a bookshelf in Fresco Bistro’s main area hides a staircase to the building’s basement.
The area is called The Dungeon and The Cellar “Labodega.” Co-owner Carmen Kluth and staff have spent months refurbishing the basement into a wine cellar, bourbon tasting room and general party space. “(We’ve been working) for a year and a half,” Kluth said of the basement area.
“We had our first wine tasting a couple of weeks ago and had about 40 people here. “We were going to have another one, but instead of that, we’ll have an open house July 31.” The basement includes two distinct rooms with two distinctly different atmospheres.
The first, dubbed The Dungeon, includes plush chairs and low lighting, perfect for a Super Bowl party or other private event. The Cellar is exactly what it sounds like, Kluth said. The room includes a number of different wine varieties for tastings, private events or date night reservations.
The other room is The Cellar “Labodega,” where everything consumed or purchased is by the bottle, she said. Related Articles Restaurants Food and Drink | Sund.
