A fashion designer who turned her childhood love of sewing into a thriving business dressing reality show celebs and social media stars has made a bold new step in the competitive industry. Megan Ruiter, 25, set up her own tailoring business, Ruiter, in 2021 after completing a four-year fashion course at John Moores University. Since then, she has amassed an impressive portfolio of notable models, including TOWIE star Jessica Wright, Love Island contestants Maura Higgins, Elma Pazar, Georgia Steele and Amy Hart, Married At First Sight UK's Thomas Hartley, and professional dancer Gabby Allen.
Now she hopes to expand her small fashion empire with her new "Designed By You" range, which enables customers to modify some of her best-selling outfits to suit their specific needs. She said: "The idea comes from when I was young, I used to model a lot of outfits in front of my mum and she always said she liked them but wished they were longer so she could wear them herself. I tried advertising with a younger model, a middle-aged model and an older model all in the same outfit with different modifications to show how women of all ages can wear these clothes, suited to their own style and needs.
"A young customer is more likely to want a mini-style dress, while an older customer is more likely to want longer sleeves or a longer skirt." Megan, who painstakingly sews all her creations from her home in , launched the ‘design your own’ feature on last month in the hope of helping custome.
