If you're taking on a stressful, slow, and super expensive property renovation then it can be such a relief to be going through it all with someone else; or not. Transforming a rundown or derelict property with a partner or another member of the family can put a huge strain on the relationship, especially when things start to go wrong, which at some point they probably will. As Channel 4's popular property programme Renovation Nation returns with a new series, catching up on how the intrepid renovators featured from the first series are getting on, sports-star couple Matthew and Michelle were keen to chat to us about how saving their Monmouthshire farmhouse from a slide into dereliction death had challenged them, but also made them stronger and even more determined, and said it was all about playing to your strengths.

Find out more about the farmhouse here. Matthew Robinson, the 51-year-old former Welsh and Swansea international rugby union player and his Olympian wife of 19 years, Michelle Griffith-Robinson, who represented Great Britain in the 1996 Olympic Games as well as three Commonwealth Games, were instantly smitten with the farmhouse and so began the steep learning curve of how to save it from becoming a ruin.
