BAPE made its runway debut in China earlier in the month, where it unveiled an extensive Fall/Winter 2024 collection at the Shanghai Expo-I Pavilion. The show not only presented its main apparel line but also sub-brands such as AAPE , BAPE BLACK , BAPY , APEE as well as MR. BATHING APE — all embodied with Eastern themes and a “harmony with all things” ethos.

The showcase was led with a 40-piece ensemble from BAPE’s main line, which comprised both menswear and womenswear that explored the sartorial codes as well as aesthetics of “subculture,” “campus life” and “city combat.” The lineup also included guest-designed pieces from South Korean designer, MLMA , who reimagined emblematic styles like the Shark hoodie and BABY MILO dress with a touch of surrealism and grotesqueness. Meanwhile, the AAPE collection expanded on a collegiate sporty mood, bringing in a bevy of imaginative pieces inspired by ice hockey kits.

Elsewhere, BAPE BLACK harnessed its “Black Rock Rider” theme with a boundary-pushing lineup, which exuded a rebellious and retro spirit while imbued with premium fabrics and jewelry. Emanating “Soft Rock Aesthetics,” the APEE line focused on crafting a youthful, expressive, and girly glam collection. Micro mini skirts, patterned denim and leopard prints played central roles, while touches of metallic, bubblegum pink, or flaming reds punctuated each of the looks.

In contrast to APEE’s gyaru vibes, BAPY took on more of a “Gentlewoman” appe.
