The Mean Green picked up one of their two road wins of the year against Tulsa before coming back to post a thrilling victory over UAB. Noah Rauschenberg kicked a 32-yard field goal at the gun and UNT closed the season with a 45-42 win and a two-game winning streak. The Mean Green have a chance to close out the 2024 season in similar fashion, if one judges by the way the American Athletic Conference race unfolded last year.

UNT will face East Carolina and Temple in its final two games of the regular season this fall. Those teams combined for five wins in 2023 and are the last two we will look at in this year’s series on the Mean Green’s 2024 opponents. The middle of UNT’s schedule is where its toughest games loom.

The Mean Green will face Texas Tech in their third game and begin a brutal series with games against Memphis, Tulane, Army and UTSA beginning in late October. The Mean Green’s hope heading into those games is that they will emerge with their bowl hopes intact prior to the final two weeks of the season. Sitting at 4-6 wouldn’t be ideal but winning four games before that final stretch would give UNT a shot to become bowl eligible by sweeping two of their most winnable games.

UNT came up short of that goal last fal.
