Londoners these days have always got their eyes peeled for an escape from the city. Don't get us wrong, it's the best city in the world, but even the most dyed-in-the-cloth city dwellers have to admit it can be a bit much. And since Covid shackled us to our shores three years ago, we Brits have been learning more and more about what our own country has to offer.

'Staycations' have become very fashionable, with Londoners eyeing up the likes of Kent, Essex and Suffolk for seaside getaways, and even looking further afield to Devon and Cornwall. We're willing to put up with some strangely convoluted and laborious journeys as well to get our fix of sea air (Cornwall isn't exactly a quick jaunt down the road). Boasting its own cathedral, St Davids is actually the UK's very smallest city, but for all the world looks more akin to a Cotswolds village. Think what American tourists mean when they say 'British countryside', you'll probably conjure something akin to St Davids tranquil, unassuming streets. Located within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, St Davids lies on the River Alun and is the resting place of Wales’ patron saint - Saint David, who lived in the area in the 5th century.
