Toteme founders Elin Kling and Karl Lindman have released numerous style heroes over the decade they’ve been in business – a milestone they’re celebrating this year. With a loyal following, many products have been destined for success, including their debut handbag, the T-Lock, which arrived in 2022. When I met Kling last year, hours before the opening of the first London flagship, she was head-to-toe Toteme (naturally), with a suede version of the T-Lock in tow.
“I go back to myself,” , which was central to the creation of the T-Lock. “We wanted to launch something unmistakably Toteme,” she said, showing me the bag’s capacious, but not cumbersome, interior and hardwearing exterior. “I liked the idea of a woman just grabbing her bag, and so I wanted to make a movement inspired by that.
” The minimalist accessory is immediately recognisable, owing to its sturdy yet tactile silhouette and understated hardware. “The T-Lock has a certain ease and energy about it,” Kling previously told US “It is precise but not so precious. That’s what I love about it.
” Since its inception, the Toteme T-Lock has been interpreted in several sizes, including a clutch and larger top-handle, in addition to a range of finishes and colourways including black, fawn, tan, milk or ash leather, black or espresso suede, ecru canvas with a tan or black leather trim, and most recently, black croc-embossed leather. Kling is an loyal carrier of the T-Lock, alongside the likes of and.
