It would be a decent ending to what’s been a pretty poor homestand, but of course they didn’t walk away completely unscathed either — Giancarlo Stanton exited the game with hamstring tightness, and we’ll have to wait and see if he’s going to hit the IL or just be day-to-day. Either way, the team will have a day off afterwards before taking the shortest possible road trip over to their neighbors in Queens.
We’ve got a short lineup ahead of today’s matinee, beginning with Sam covering the rivalry roundup and the Astros doing the Yanks another favor by handling the O’s. After that Kevin covers a good ol’ fashioned beatdown the 1999 team gave the Devil Rays in today’s diary entry, and Nick Sarnelli takes a moment to take in the big picture with the Yankees’ recent slump. After the game, John has the latest social media spotlight chock-full of highlights from Rickwood Field and HOPE Week.
