A.R., at the Middletown Presbyterian Church at Elwyn yesterday morning.
In the afternoon, memorial services were held in the cemetery, Sen. Albert Dutton MacDade was the speaker. Members of Lynch Camp, No.
94, United Spanish War Veterans, joined the Grand Army men in observing the memorial services. 75 Years Ago, 1949: Thomas B. McCabe, chairman of the Federal Reserve System, called for a return to aggressive salesmanship on the part of business Wednesday night as he addressed the annual Man of the Year banquet of Chester Business Men’s Association at Springhaven Club.
McCabe, the 1948 winner, presented the coveted award to Alfred G. Hill, of the Chester Times , in recognition of his contributions to community welfare and advancement. Speaking to 225 persons, one of the largest turnouts since the fete was inaugurated 12 years ago, McCabe termed the recent economic decline “a good old fashioned corrective period.
” 50 Years Ago, 1974: At least nine major parades and patriotic tributes for Memorial Day have been announced for the weekend which officially marks the start of the summer holiday season. Many swim clubs reopen Saturday and will lure Delaware Countians to relax there. Other county residents will leave Friday for a three-day holiday at the seashore or mountain resorts.
