One of Sheffield ’s best loved bars is set for a spectacular relaunch after a major six-month refurb. The Wick at Both Ends, on West Street , in the city centre, closed without warning towards the end of 2023 . The late night cocktail bar is set to reopen this Thursday, June 6, under new owners, and these photos and video footage give a first look inside.

It’s undergone a lavish makeover ahead of its opening day, when it will throw its doors open from 6pm until late. To mark the relaunch, each customer will be offered a free prosecco or cocktail on the opening night. The new-look bar has high-end sound and lighting systems, a smoke machine and glitter ball.

Some of the old features have been retained and the drinks menu features several familiar classics, including the famous ‘lemon drizzle’ shot which is served in fiery fashion. Visitors will also be able to order huge ‘fish bowl’ cocktails to share, priced at £50 for a blue lagoon, sex on the beach or cosmopolitan. The manager, Nimo, said: “It’s the same concept and 80 per cent the same as before but with a new design.

“We might be different faces but we’ll be running the same things and you won’t feel like a stranger here.” There will be DJs every Friday and Saturday, playing house classics and new disco during the afternoon, with a ‘no-holds barred good time mash-up’ taking you into the night and early morning. It will host live music on Sundays, while Wednesday will be student night, with spe.
