Culture All right everyone! Gird your loins — The Devil Wears Prada is getting a sequel. It’s been nearly 18 years since the modern classic first hit our screens and it’s finally time to find out what our favourite fashionistas have been doing in that time. The good news is that the film ’s original screenwriter, Aline Brosh McKenna, is already in talks with Disney and is sure to deliver quality lines, unforgettable quotes and more Chanel boots than any one person needs.

The not-so-good news is that none of the original cast are definitely set to return for the highly-anticipated next chapter. Did Demarchelier ever confirm? We’ll have to wait and see. What we do know is that the storyline will be putting a spotlight on modern publishing, with Miranda Priestly navigating a world of declining sales in which advertisers have changed the way they work with print publications.

Meanwhile Emily Blunt ’s character, Emily Charlton, is now a successful executive at a luxury goods firm (think LVMH meets Kering) who, in a twist of fate, holds all the power over her former boss. As one of the biggest smash hits of the Noughties, The Devil Wears Prada landed Meryl Streep a Golden Globe for best actress in a comedy and designer Patricia Field was Oscar-nominated for the costume design. Since then, the film’s top cast have teased fans with quasi-reunions, most recently when the leading trio presented best actor in a comedy series at the Screen Actors Guild Awards back in Februa.
