Ahead of the highly-anticipated Olympics held in the City of Light, comes the fashion week entourage. As menswear season shifts from Milan to Paris, so has its congregation of fashion insiders, designers and not to mention, the celebrities scheduled to attend. Crowds of cameras contest to catch a glimpse of the stars while show attendees strut along the Seine and flood the iconic boulevards, filling up the coveted front-row seats for the dawn of Paris men’s fashion week.
Capping off day one was Louis Vuitton ’s ‘Le monde est à vous’ collection—unveiled on a checkerboard grass runway showcase at Paris’s UNESCO headquarters in collaboration with Air Afrique. Creative director Pharrell Williams took to the skies this season, with a travel-centric collection, which featured pixelated map motifs in signature hues of the globe’s green and blue, aviation inspired jackets with airplane-shaped zippers and jersey-like pieces. Outside the show, attendees were kitted out in a mix of sporty and country ensembles.
Think graphic bomber jackets, checkerboard prints and chocolate browns with bright accents of turquoise. Amongst the crowd, pleated jorts —in denim or pinstriped styles, paired with coordinating cropped jackets—emerged as the hottest menswear piece. With heavyweights like Dior, Hermès and Loewe slated to show within the next few days, there’s certainly much to look forward to.
