Vacheron Constantin’s appreciation of masters of their craft extends far beyond the world of watchmaking, as a current exhibition from the maison amply demonstrates. “Eternal Connections: Metalworks Unveiled by Master Liu Wing-sheung and Fanson Lam” is dedicated to showing the world the work of the two eponymous craftsmen, the former a lost wax casting master and the latter, his apprentice, a sculptor. The exhibition is hosted at Crafts on Peel, a Hong Kong non-profit organisation that aims to support the city’s traditional crafts and help breathe new artistic life into them.

It marks a collaboration between the pair that highlights how their work influences each other in a subtle, multifaceted fashion, while shining a light on the skills of traditional artisans. Among the works on display are several that showcase Liu and Lam’s collaboration, including Tribute , which symbolises their partnership with six pairs of intertwined hands, and The Legacy of Time , which depicts their 12 years of working together. They’re joined by a pair of meditative solo works from each of the artists, presented in juxtaposition to highlight their relationship.



Liu’s The Cypress’ Whisper captures the tree, a symbol of resilience, with startling verisimilitude, while Lam’s Silent Timekeeper is an incense burner featuring another depiction of a majestic tree. “Eternal Connections” is the second in a year-long series of similarly innovative events, which began in March with the.
