There may not be any Stoke-on-Trent recipients in the King's birthday honours list - but there are still 13 Staffordshire residents who have been recognised. Football legend Lou Macari, who managed Stoke City and is the driving force behind the Macari Centre homeless hostel in Stoke, was once again overlooked for an honour. While hopes that Robbie Williams may finally get the OBE he was awarded for his charity work and pop stardom in 2019 - only for the decision to be overturned - have not materialised.

Those recognised elsewhere in the county include representatives of the Royal British Legion, Citizens Advice and youth voluntary services who all receive MBEs. Also honoured is BBC Midlands Today presenter Nick Owen for his services to charity and broadcasting, while sports coaches, a conservation volunteer, and a community First Responder have been recognised as well. Nationally, Post Office campaigner Alan Bates, former prime minister Gordon Brown and artist Tracey Emin were among the famous faces recognised.



The highest award went to Mr Brown who was made a Companion of Honour, while Sir Alan was knighted in recognition of his campaigning work which highlighted the Post Office Horizon scandal. Emin, actress Imelda Staunton and fashion accessories designer Anya Hindmarch were all made dames in the list, while writer Armando Iannucci was made a CBE and cyclist Mark Cavendish was knighted.
